Okay so i have about a 1000$ i can use to get started with a setup.. I will be going to school full time in about a month so for the next 7-8 months i will not have to pay electricity.... With this amount of cash and not having to pay for electricity what type of yeild should i expect to make per month in bitcoins and $? Im a noob at bitcoins so be gentle lol

I'd like to invest in some ASIC machines, any advice on which to chose?

I am thinking of buying one or two to start, to see if it's feasible to make some profit and then looking to invest in up to 20 if it works out. What are some of the better machines on the market, I'm basically looking for some Watt per GH figures and also which machines are reliable and which to stay away from.
I should add that I am looking for some module / card type devices like this so I can scale up at comfortable rate.
Thanks muchly.

Getting started mining, Any tips?

I am brand new to bitcoin, I am hoping to mine some bitcoins. I am thinking about using https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer and using Slushpool as my mining pool. As for hardware, I have the sp20 jackson. I am wondering if anyone has some tips for me about mining.
EDIT: I am not doing this (fully) for the money. I am mainly doing this because I want to learn about bitcoin mining, However I would like to at least pay back the machine.

My roommate and I have free power in our college dorm should we invest in some miners?

So I'm really on the fence whether to drop 200 bucks for a used spondoolies sp20 and some power supplies and was wondering if some pros think it would be worth our time to start with this and get a few more later since we have free power while in school? Also would a used sp20 be a good choice or would there be something better, it seems for the price/GH's this one would be the best but im a little worried about a used product.

New miner. Want to make a little set up. Need help.

Hi there!
As the title suggests im willing to jump into bitcoin ,but i cant figure out what would be best.
Before we start ,yes i have electricity included into rent ,so i dont have to worry about that.
I want to invest around 300£ and was wondering what would be the best i could get for that amount? I have been looking at Antminers ,but i just found Spondoolies SP20 and it looks like a reasonable deal.
What would you do if you had 300£ to spend on a set up?
Thanks for the replies in advance!
Keep mining!

Original Post:
Hi everyone,
I am the official North American distributor of Break-out boards for the IBM 2880W Bladecenter H PSU's, which are 80+ platinum rated (94%+ efficient) Edit: UN-VERIFIED AT THIS POINT and have provision for 22x PCI-E cables. Unlike other server boards, these don't rely on screw-down terminals and bare wires which can get loose and spark causing fire hazards, and limit the exposure of live contacts to surfaces above and below the PSU. Instead these use a double-sided PCI 6 pin cable, which only cost about $0.10 more than the standard PCI-6 to bare wire versions. Also, unlike the DPS-2000BB -which is the next largest server PSU available for miners- these have fans already built-in, so don't need extra work to set up up and deploy.
The PSU's themselves are available on e-bay and elsewhere (I sell them as well), and the boards will be priced at US $70 $65 each (better pricing for bulk purchase, volume structure will be the same as J4bberwock's). Each PSU can handle 2x Antminer S7's, 3x SP20's, 5 Antminer S5's, or 8 Antminer S3's. You won't find better value for power, and there are very few ATX-based PSU's that provide 80+ platinum efficiency (and none for under $200 for even 700-800 watts). Edit: UN-VERIFIED AT THIS POINT Lastly, unlike ATX-based PSU's, these can be run at (and I have found even over) their rated power, as they were designed that way for server use. They do, however, require 240V input. Also, running these over at over 90% load will give you slightly decreased efficiency, and could affect their reliability.
I have personally taken 3x SP20's to settings around 960 watts (at ports, not at wall) each for approximately 2 weeks, and the PSU drew 13.41 amps (@ 235 volts - 3150 watts @ wall). So at absolute full load (or possibly over), these will still hold over 90% efficiency. Very impressive, and I will be testing different fans to reduce sound for home mining (fans on these PSU's are slightly louder & higher pitched than SP20 fans). Sloopy informed me that he ran 11x Antminer S3's on a PSU for a while (over 3,300W DC!), but that is certainly not recommended, and will eventually cause the PSU to fail. It is simply a testament to how tough these PSU's truly are, and that spikes over their rated output shouldn't affect performance.
Here are some pictures:
Feel free to contact the developer of these boards if you have any concerns, he will verify that I am authorized to sell these. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=206446

I will honour a 10-day return/exchange for PSU's or Boards that are DOA. However, these PSU's are used and although I try to briefly load test them all before sending them out, it is impossible to predict failures. As such, no warranty will be offered beyond what was previously mentioned. If you are looking for more peace of mind, please feel free to source PSU's yourself either new or used.

Help with selecting Bitcoin Cash mining pool.

Hey so a friend gave me some old miners (SP20's), but I was wondering what pool I should use. I am mining on bitcoin.com but wanted to know if there is another where I'd might have more luck?
I'm cranking out 2.4 Terahashes right now at 800w, and I know I'm gonna lose a bit of money but I really love the real Bitcoin, and want to help the network.

What are you doing with your SP20? Pool, Solo, or Shutting it Down?

With the drastic increase in mining difficulty my SP20 I feel, is on it's last legs.
I have it down clocked about as low as I can get it to run stable which has left with with 1080Ghs @ ~550 watts (it's been REAL cold here this winter). My power cost averages lets say $0.10 $/kWhr. So while I'm still profitable, it's not very much.
So my question is, what is everyone with this generation of equipment doing? Shutting it off? Operating on projected bitcoin values? Solo mining? I'm open to advise as this was my first miner.
